Activities
Storm water maintenance activities are performed to ensure that surface and storm water is safely conveyed and adequately treated before being discharged into the environment. The storm water systems vary in size and complexity with treatment usually consisting of settling and bio-filtration. Storm water maintenance activities include:
  • Catch basin cleaning
  • Ditch line clearing
  • Pipeline inspection
  • Pond debris removal
  • Street sweeping
Responsibilities
The maintenance staff are responsible for decant facility operation, testing, and regulatory reporting. This group also provides support to investigate and correct illicit discharges into the storm water system and during the winter, storm maintenance personnel coordinate storm response activities to preserve infrastructure and prevent flooding during heavy rainfall events.
