ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Finance & Administrative Services provides support to the City Council, City Manager and all city departments, as well as the community, and provides a wide range of support for general financial reporting, administration and records management. The department is formally organized into the accounting and audit division, and the budget and revenue division.
The accounting and audit division manages and maintains financial records in conformity with generally accepted governmental accounting principles and in compliance with state, federal and local laws. This division also prepares the annual financial report, subject to the annual audit, and administers business licensing, payroll and accounts payable.
The budget and revenue division oversees several functions, including the preparation of the city’s budget, the investment of public funds, cash management, the issuance of debt and the collection of revenue and receivables (including utility billing.)
The records management function for the city is overseen by the Finance department.
